It’s Tax Time!
IRS Impersonation scams are on the increase!
A fraudster calls a consumer, claims to be an IRS agent and claims the consumer owes money to the IRS!
They suggest that the consumer pay by wiring money or loading money on a prepaid debt card that can be bought at several local stores. They often threaten arrest or legal action and the call may appear to be from a Washington DC phone number.
The IRS will NEVER call a consumer about unpaid taxes or penalties.  If they have a need to contact you they will do it via mail.  DO NOT provide your personal information to anyone that calls..do not send money…once the criminal has it, it is impossible to retrieve!
